well as on Facebook.com
Access Messenger History From Facebook or Messenger on a Desktop
This is the way to use a browser to search your Facebook message history by keyword or within a conversation.
SEARCH MESSAGE HISTORY BY KEYWORD
Here is the way to search message history by keyword:
1. Go to your Facebook home page in a web browser.
2. Choose the Messenger icon from the upper-right corner.
3. Choose See All in Messenger
Note: Go to Messenger.com and follow the remainder of the steps to skip using Facebook.
4. Choose the Search Messenger box.
5. In the Search Messenger box, type a search term.
6. Choose Search Messages for below the search box if you’re using a keyword.
7. Conversations mentioning the keyword can be found in Messages. To see a conversation, click on it.
SEARCH WITHIN A MESSENGER CONVERSATION
To search within a Messenger conversation, follow these steps:
1. In a web browser, go to Facebook and click the Messenger button in the upper-right corner.
2. Choose See All in Messenger.
Note: Go to Messenger.com and follow the remainder of the steps to skip using Facebook.
3. Choose a conversation that you’d like to search. Select Search in Conversation from the Customize
Chat option on the right side of the screen.
4. At the top of the conversation, a Search in Conversation box displays. Select Search after entering a
search term.
5. Within the conversation, Messenger highlights the search results. When you’re finished, click Done.
Access Messenger History From the Messenger App
Here’s how to search through your message history by keyword or within a conversation in the iOS or Android
Messenger app on your mobile device.
1. Go to the Messenger app and tap Search then.
2. Text a search term.
3. Any conversations that include the search word will appear in Messages.
4. Click the conversation you want and open it.
How to Access Message Requests on Facebook
If you’re having trouble finding what you’re looking for, check your Message Requests. Here’s how to get to the
Message Requests screen in a web browser or the Messenger mobile app from Facebook or Messenger.
ACCESS MESSAGE REQUESTS ON FACEBOOK OR MESSENGER ON THE DESKTOP
Here’s how to access message requests using the desktop version of Messenger:
1. In a web browser, go to Facebook and click the Messenger button in the upper-right corner.
2. Choose See All in Messenger.

3. Choose you profile image, then choose Message Requests.
4. Send a request for information about the person who is texting you.
ACCESS MESSAGE REQUESTS IN THE MESSENGER MOBILE APP
Here’s how to access your message requests using the Messenger mobile app:
1. Go to Messenger and select your profile picture.
2. Choose Messenger Requests.
3. Open a chat to know more about who is messaging you.
How to Download Your Facebook Messenger History
Use the Facebook Download Your Information option from Facebook on the web or the Messenger mobile app to
download a complete history of your Messenger conversations.
DOWNLOAD MESSENGER HISTORY FROM A WEB BROWSER
Here’s how to download your Messenger history using a web browser:
1. Go to your Facebook’s home page.
2. In the upper-right corner of the screen, click the Account icon, which is symbolized by a down arrow.
3. Choose Settings & Privacy.
4. Choose Settings.
5. Choose Your Facebook Information in the left panel.
6. Choose View from the Download Your Information.
7. Choose the Messengers check box to download your messenger history.
Note: Choose everything to download all of your Facebook data, or select other items to download.
8. Pull to the top and tap Create File.
Note: Enter a date range, format, and media quality for a more precise download.
9. When your download files are ready, Facebook will notify you. Go to the Download Your Information
page and select Available Copies when they’re ready. Then, save your Messenger history to your computer.
Note: The downloading process can take several days depending on how much material you requested.
DOWNLOAD MESSENGER HISTORY FROM THE MESSENGER MOBILE APP
Here’s how to download your Messenger history using the Messenger mobile app for iOS or Android:
1. Go to Messenger and select your profile picture.
2. Pull down and choose Account Settings.
3. Pull down and Download Your Information.
4. Choose the Messages check box to download your Messenger history.
5. Pull down and choose Create File.
Note: Enter a date range, format, and media quality for a more precise download.
6. When your download files are ready, Messenger will notify you. Go to the Download Your
Information page and select Available Copies when they’re ready. Then, save your Messenger history to your
computer.
